Overview

University Works Department came into existence in the year 2012 in the campus of the university. This department has professional expertise in all disciplines of Engineering, Project Management, Architecture coupled with specialized experience in construction of Hospital buildings and their maintenance. Engineering Section has been serving the University and has executed variety of specialized works in a difficult and demanding location in which the university is situated. It has now grown into a comprehensive construction and maintenance department, which provides services from project conceptualization to completion and maintenance management thereafter.

Functions:

• University Works Department works on Planning and Construction of New Projects and Maintenance works in the constituent colleges of University Campus by inviting E-tendering & quotations, Correspondence with funding agency of Central Govt. and State Govt. for execution of Building and related projects.

• University Works Department prepares the budgetary proposals to take grants from Govt. of India and State Govt. of Punjab

• Civil, Electrical, Medical gases & HVAC services related maintenance works are undertaken by the U.W.D. (Engineering Section) from time to time depending upon the requirement.

• The water supply and disposal of sewage through STP of all the three Campus under BFUHS are maintained through OHSR & UGSR with underground networks of lines. Similarly, the electric supply to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College & Hospital, University building and residential campus are maintained through 03 Electric Sub-Stations of the university.

• University Works Department arranges various meetings of committees and prepares the Agendas and Minutes of the statutory committees i.e. Building Committee, House allotment committee and others of the University.

All these achievements were made with very limited dedicated staff of the Engineering Section.
